When it comes to senioritis, many believe that the only cure is graduation. Avoiding senioritis is important because you want to finish strong and prepare for the transitions that come after high school. Check out these tips that will motivate you to the end of the school year.

1. Fill your schedule

Consider taking a challenging class or an elective you’ve always wanted to explore. Outside of the classroom, think about applying for an internship or another career focused activity. By keeping yourself busy, you are less likely to fall into an unproductive slump.

2. Set clear goals

Avoid senioritis by thinking about the skills you hope to obtain before you go off to college! Or consider the grades you need to maintain to keep your college acceptance. By giving yourself specific goals, you will have clear boundaries around the accomplishments you hope to obtain before graduation.

3. Take it one day at a time

If you are struggling to give each class your best effort, focus on one task at a time. Try not to think about your checklist in its entirety, but by its separate parts. Keep a calendar or an agenda to keep up with deadlines and important dates.

4. Make a bucket list

Write down all the fun things you would like to do before you graduate from high school. Then grab a friend, and get out there! You’re probably feeling eager to start your next chapter, but enjoy your life the way it is right now. This may be one of the last times you have ample free time or the last time you live at home with your parents.

5. Make a pact with a friend

Sometimes it’s easier to achieve your goals when you have a friend to hold you accountable! If you are determined to make the most of these moments (academically or not), pick a partner and keep each other driven.

6. Stay physically active

When you feel apathetic, it can manifest itself physically. Working up a sweat will actually increase your energy. If going to the gym isn’t your thing, find other fun ways to be active! Walk your dog, toss a football with a neighbor, or throw a dance party with some friends. The choices are endless!

No matter if you are a senior or not, maintaining motivation can be real tough, especially when you have every intention of doing your best. Keep in mind that college can be more academically challenging than high school, so it’s important to prepare as best you can. And remember to make the most of your senior year because you will cherish these memories forever.
